Population
The population of Manila is about 1,652,000 according to the 2010 Census data collected. Manila is the worlds most densely populated city, at around 43,000 people per square kilometre. Imagine that, 43,000 people crammed in one square kilometre. This means that for every person there is only 2.3 cm of room.
Analysis: This graph shows the population growth over 20 years. It shows that the population of the Philippines as constantly increased while Manila's population has remained steady. Also this can mean that people are tending to avoid the cities because they are so congested and choose to live in the outer suburbs or other regions.
Where are People Heading?
RED REPRESENTS PEOPLE-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Analysis: This picture shows where people are moving to. It is clear to see that people are moving away from the city centre and into the outer suburbs. In 1975, there was barely any people inhabiting the area and now 35 years later there is people everywhere. Manila is growing a lot more to the north but there are some people migrating south. More people are moving to the north because it is flatter land and more cites are being built there which means there are jobs.
Language and Religion
The official language of the Philippines is Filipino which is based on Tagalog as well as this there are about 111 indigenous languages. The Philippines is made up of 4 major religions, they are Roman Catholic (the main one), Muslim, Protestant and Buddhist.
Analysis: This graph shows the ecological foot print for the Lake Laguna Region. This is because much of the land used by Manila comes from here because there is not enough space in the city to grow and harvest things. It also tells us how much land is needed for what. Finally, 15,730,000 hectares is needed to regrow everything that is consumed by the city.
Foreign Citizens
In Manila there are about 55 households which have foreign citizens. On average there would be about 5 people in each house, so that equals up to 275 foreigners.
