Traffic
The traffic problem continues to grow in Manila, on most days the average speed in the city is 7km/h. Also the issue widens as people continue to disobey the law. This happens because there are not enough measure taken to stop law disobedience. Finally, the predicament will remain until the government decides to build wider roads.
Analysis: This graph shows the comparison of how many vehicles are in Manila compared to the Philippines. Manila has roughly 350,000,000 less vehicles less than the Philippines. Also this shows the huge scale of the traffic problem because just in Metro Manila which is 638 km2, there is just over 2,000,000 vehicles. This also shows that Manila is responsible for approximately one-third of the vehicles in the Philippines.
Health Problems
I big problem is illegal drug use. A lot of Filipinos are addicted to illegal drugs and prescription drugs which cause many over doses and death. Starvation is a big problem as well with a lot of people dying from it but the government is trying to help people by using the department of the health to supply people with food packages in the slums. You can catch many diseases such as diarrhoea, Hepatitis A from consuming dirty water. Ways that you can prevent catching these diseases is by drinking bottled water and make sure you eat at registered restraints because they have undergone inspections to make sure there food is fine to eat.
Homelessness
In the Philippines 32.8 million people are said to be homeless or live in slums. So that is almost half of the population is homeless.
Slums
Slums are located over 526 communities in metro Manila. Slums are often located next to railway tracks, industrial areas and tips. Slums are often where there was space as well, slums are considered to be buildings or hazardous areas. In Manila 44% of the people live in slums and 2 out of every 5 people live in poverty.

Pollution
Pollution in Manila is getting out of hand, it is causing respiratory illnesses and 98% of the population is being affected by the pollution. Mainly the respiratory illness is Bronchitis. The pollution is caused by cars, industrial factories and improper waste disposal. In fact the Pasig river is now one of the most polluted rivers in the world because of the waste being dumped there.

It shows that Manila has been one of the lower cities when it comes to pollution a few years ago, however now it is one of the highest mega cities in terms of pollution. This is measured in Pollution Index which is a way of determining how dangerous the pollution is.
